Celeste and TowerFall can no longer be bought on Xbox. Players noticed both games missing from the Xbox Store on October 29, and later that day developer Maddy Thorson confirmed it on Bluesky: "For those who're asking, yes we delisted Celeste and TowerFall on XBox. We did this to support the BDS boycott."
That's the full statement. No end date, no follow-up, no FAQ.
Can I still play Celeste on Xbox?
If you already own it, yes. Both games stay in your library, remain playable and can be redownloaded, according to TheGamer. Pure Xbox says it doesn't appear to be a hard delisting, meaning existing purchases should still show up.
That includes anyone who picked up Celeste back when it was a Games with Gold freebie, per Pure Xbox. Check your library before you assume you don't have it.
If you don't own either game on Xbox, you can't buy them there now. That's the whole change.

Where can I still buy them?
Everywhere else. Both games remain on PlayStation, Nintendo and PC, per Pure Xbox. On Steam, Celeste and TowerFall Ascension were still on sale as of November 2.
PC Gamer notes the removal covers Xbox's digital storefronts and suggests used physical copies where that's an option.
Why were they delisted?
Thorson's post names the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement, which lists Microsoft among its boycott targets. GamesRadar+ reports that BDS specifically asks supporters to avoid Xbox, including Game Pass, along with Microsoft-owned games such as Minecraft and Call of Duty.
The practical mechanism is simple. Microsoft takes a cut of every Xbox Store sale, and pulling the games stops new sales through that store.
Is this a one-off?
It's the second case in a few weeks. In October, House House said its co-op game Big Walk won't come to Xbox for the same reason. "We would love for people to be able to play the game on Xbox, but not until Microsoft and/or Xbox have been removed as BDS boycott targets," the studio said, as quoted by Polygon.
Thorson hasn't said whether Celeste and TowerFall would return under the same condition. TheGamer speculates they would. That's TheGamer's read; the developer hasn't said it.
Will anything else happen to Xbox owners?
Nothing has been announced. Celeste has no online component to switch off. TowerFall Ascension is a local multiplayer game built around four people on one couch, which also doesn't depend on a server. Neither game has a shutdown date, because neither game is shutting down.
Is Celeste dead on Xbox?
For new buyers, yes. Celeste came out in 2018 on PC, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One, per Polygon, and the Xbox chapter of that list is now closed to new customers. For everyone who already owns it, nothing about the game has changed. The strawberries are where you left them.
