Yes, slowly. Fingersoft announced on Oct. 9 that it is ending development of the free-to-play version of LEGO Hill Climb Adventures. In-app purchases stop on Oct. 23, 2026. The game leaves the App Store and Google Play on Dec. 15, 2026. After that, existing players can keep driving "into 2027," and Fingersoft says it will explain what comes after that later.
The announcement art shows the game's red buggy driving off into a sunset. It's a bit on the nose, but fair enough.
The dates
- Oct. 9, 2026: Announcement on Fingersoft's site and the game's help center.
- Oct. 23, 2026: In-app purchases end. You can still play and spend currency you already have.
- Dec. 15, 2026: The game is removed from the App Store and Google Play. No new downloads after this.
- Sometime in 2027: Unannounced. Fingersoft says "we'll share more information about what comes next as we get closer to that time."
The help center sums it up as "ending support of the free-to-play version in December 2026," and adds, "We've found a hill too steep to conquer." Fingersoft did not say what the hill was.
Reader questions
Can I still play? Yes. Nothing stops working on Oct. 23 except the shop. If the game is installed on your phone, it should keep working after the store listings disappear on Dec. 15.
When does it actually stop working? Fingersoft hasn't said. "Into 2027" is the only timeframe given. Treat that as a final date to be announced later.
Should I spend my coins? Probably. Fingersoft says currency stays usable after purchases end, but it hasn't said what happens to it in 2027. Unspent coins won't be worth much once that date shows up.
Should I download it now? Only if you want to. The download window closes Dec. 15, and you'd be getting a game with no new content and a 2027 expiration.
Is there a version that isn't shutting down? Yes. LEGO Hill Climb Adventures+ stays on Apple Arcade, and Fingersoft calls it "the complete, best version of the game without in-app purchases." It requires an Apple Arcade subscription and an Apple device.
Can I move my progress to the Apple Arcade version? No. Fingersoft's help center says the two are "completely different versions of the game" and that progress "can't be carried over to the other." You'll start over at the bottom of the hill.
How we got here
Fingersoft launched the game in late May 2024. It's a LEGO-branded spinoff of Hill Climb Racing, the studio's mobile series. The free version's US App Store page had 2,429 ratings when we checked today. The Apple Arcade version arrived in June 2025 and has 878.
In its farewell post, Fingersoft thanks the LEGO Group "for trusting us with this collaboration." Hill Climb Racing and Hill Climb Racing 2 are still on the App Store. This announcement covers only the free LEGO version.
Bottom line
Is LEGO Hill Climb Adventures dead? Not yet. The shop closes Oct. 23, the download page goes away Dec. 15, and the game keeps running for existing players into 2027 with no final date. If you want to keep playing past that, the Apple Arcade version is the one being kept, and you'll start from scratch. We'll update this story when Fingersoft names a final date. For everything else closing this year, see our 2026 shutdowns list.
