LEGO Star Wars: Castaways is gone from Apple Arcade, and its servers are going too

LEGO Star Wars: Castaways left Apple Arcade at the end of October 2026, and a farewell shared Oct. 31 says its island servers are closing for good. What we know, what Gameloft hasn't said, and whether you can still play.

LEGO Star Wars: Castaways is done. Apple listed the game as leaving Apple Arcade at the end of October 2026, and on October 31 a farewell message circulated saying "the island's servers are closing for good." The game's X account reposted it.

For a game that only ever existed on Apple Arcade and only ever worked online, those are the same event.

What happened?

Apple flagged Castaways as leaving the service in its App Store "leaving soon" section alongside the October 1 Arcade update, as Arcade Actu reported. It left with three other games: NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition, Downwell+ and Delicious – Miracle of Life+.

Then, on Halloween, the farewell post went up: "After 5 years of free, extensive content updates and events, the island's servers are closing for good." The game was mid-event at the time, with a Solo-themed event running through Halloween.

Did Gameloft confirm it?

Not with a press release we could find. The farewell came from the Daily Star Wars Games account and was reposted by the @LEGOSWCastaways account. SWTOR Strategies notes the message gives no exact shutdown time and says nothing about offline preservation.

Earlier in the month, Bespin Bulletin reported that Gameloft hadn't commented and hadn't offered any way to keep playing. No standalone App Store version has been announced.

If Gameloft says something different, we'll update this. So far nobody has argued the island is staying open.

Can I still play LEGO Star Wars: Castaways?

Realistically, no. Castaways requires a connection to play, and it was exclusive to Apple Arcade. Apple's general policy lets developers ship a standalone version when a game leaves Arcade, but that's up to the developer, and nothing like that exists here.

If it still launches on your device for a few days, enjoy the quiet. Your minifigure, your outfits and your collection of tiny helmets weren't saved anywhere you can take with you.

What was Castaways?

Gameloft Montréal's social LEGO Star Wars game launched on Apple Arcade on November 19, 2021, a few weeks short of its fifth birthday. You built a minifigure from hundreds of pieces, washed up on an island with other players, and spent your time on Microfighter races, combat simulations, puzzles and dance parties.

It won Apple's 2022 Design Award for Visuals and Graphics. It also kept getting free themed events right up to the end, from The Mandalorian to The Book of Boba Fett to that final Solo event.

Is LEGO Star Wars: Castaways dead?

Yes. It was a cozy, always-online game living inside one subscription, and it went out the way those usually do: a line in an App Store "leaving soon" section, then a goodbye post.

Star Wars mobile games have a short shelf life lately. Star Wars: Hunters shut down last year. Castaways lasted longer than Hunters, which in this business counts as a long career.
