As of October 30, 2026, Despicable Me: Minion Rush is gone from the App Store and Google Play. Gameloft's sunset FAQ says the game "will no longer be available for download" from today, in-app purchases are off, and there won't be any more content updates. The online servers follow on January 29, 2027.
If it's not on your phone already, that's that. If it is, you have three months of the full game and then an offline version of indeterminate lifespan.
Can I still download it?
No. The FAQ is blunt about it: once it's off the stores, it's off. That includes redownloads. "Will I be able to redownload the game if I accidentally delete it?" Gameloft's answer: "No." So don't tidy up your phone storage this week.
Can I still play?
Yes, if it's installed. Until January 29, 2027, everything online keeps working: events, leaderboards, cloud saves, social features. Gameloft says progression is being sped up through the end, with premium and limited-event rewards made "more accessible," so whatever you never unlocked is now cheaper to unlock.
After January 29, installed copies drop to an offline mode that covers "the game's core basic gameplay that is stored locally on your device." Live events, leaderboards, cloud saves and online account data go away. Gameloft also says "some additional features" may not survive offline.
Will offline mode last forever?
Gameloft has "no plans to disable the offline version completely" but won't promise it keeps running, citing future OS updates and device support. Customer Care ends the same day the servers do, so if a phone update breaks it in 2028, nobody's answering the phone.
What about my money, Tokens and Bananas?
There are no refunds, "except where required by applicable law or the policies of the platform" you bought through. You can't buy anything new as of today. Tokens and other currency stay in the offline version, but with "fewer places to spend it," so Gameloft recommends spending it before January 29. Progress and items don't transfer to any other game.
Your online account and anything stored only in the cloud are gone after the shutdown. Progress saved locally on the device is what carries into offline mode, "where supported."
Why is it shutting down?
Gameloft's official reason is that "the mobile gaming landscape continues to evolve." That's all.
It's an odd one to retire. Pocket Gamer puts Minion Rush at about 1.2 billion installs since its 2013 launch, near Subway Surfers territory, and notes it was still getting updates a couple of months before the announcement. It outlasted several Despicable Me sequels and spin-offs. It does not get to outlast 2026's app store.
The short version
Minion Rush left the App Store and Google Play on October 30, 2026, and purchases are off. Online servers and support end January 29, 2027. Installed copies keep an offline mode with no guarantees. No refunds, no redownloads. Keep it installed and spend your currency.
