No. It is ending its own sales and support for three Japan console SKUs on Oct. 25, 2026. PlayStation 4 ARK: Survival Evolved and the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of PixARK leave Spike Chunsoft's catalog that day. The servers are not being pulled for the franchise, and PC ARK is not part of this notice.
Spike Chunsoft posted the official notice on Oct. 14. The reason is a license agreement that expired. That is a distributor handoff story, not a dinosaur extinction event — though for PixARK on those two consoles, the handoff is missing.
The countdown
- Oct. 14, 2026: Spike Chunsoft announces the sales and support end.
- Oct. 25, 2026: Spike Chunsoft stops selling the base games and DLC for PS4 ARK: Survival Evolved and PS4/Switch PixARK, and ends its user support for those versions.
- Oct. 26, 2026 onward: Operations for PS4 ARK: Survival Evolved move to Solutions 2 GO. Updates will come from that company's new Japanese ARK X account.
Reader questions
Can I still play ARK on PS4? Yes, if you already own it. Spike Chunsoft says existing PS4 ARK: Survival Evolved players can keep playing as before. After Oct. 25, support questions go to Solutions 2 GO, not Spike Chunsoft.
Is this a global shutdown? No. This is Spike Chunsoft's Japan console distribution ending for specific SKUs. Studio Wildcard's PC game on Steam is unchanged. Other regions and storefronts are not named in the notice.
What about PixARK? Spike Chunsoft ends sales and support for the PS4 and Switch versions on Oct. 25. The notice does not name a new distributor for those PixARK SKUs. Whether they stay buyable elsewhere, or just sit as already-owned copies, is not spelled out. PC PixARK on Steam is a separate Snail Games USA product.
Which versions keep Spike Chunsoft? The company says sales and user support continue for PlayStation 5 ARK: Survival Ascended and the Nintendo Switch version of ARK: Survival Evolved.
Should I buy before Oct. 25? Only if you specifically want Spike Chunsoft's PS4 ARK listing or the PS4/Switch PixARK listings it still sells. After the 25th, PS4 ARK guidance shifts to Solutions 2 GO. PixARK on those consoles has no announced successor seller in this post.
How we got here
ARK: Survival Evolved has been on consoles for years under regional publishers while Studio Wildcard and Snail Games USA run the Steam side. License clocks run out. When they do, one company stops selling and another may pick up the keys — which is what Solutions 2 GO is doing for PS4 ARK starting Oct. 26.
PixARK is the voxel spin-off. Losing Spike Chunsoft sales on PS4 and Switch without a named replacement is the sharper cut in this announcement. If you only care about taming dinos on PC, none of this changes your launch options.
Bottom line
Spike Chunsoft stops selling and supporting PS4 ARK: Survival Evolved and PS4/Switch PixARK on Oct. 25, 2026, because its license expired. PS4 ARK moves to Solutions 2 GO the next day. Switch ARK and PS5 ARK: Survival Ascended stay with Spike Chunsoft. This is not a franchise server shutdown. For other confirmed closures this year, see our 2026 shutdowns list.
