Street Fighter V is offline and delisted. Capcom says it's temporary.

Capcom has switched off Street Fighter V's online features on PS4 and Steam and is pulling it from sale while it fixes a PHP security issue. Offline modes still work. No return date yet.

Street Fighter V can't go online right now, and you can't buy it either. Capcom has switched off the game's online features on PS4 and Steam and is pulling it from sale on PlayStation Store, Steam and its own Capcom Town store while it fixes a security problem in PHP, the programming language behind part of the game's backend.

Capcom calls this temporary. It hasn't said when the game comes back.

What Capcom said

The official Street Fighter account posted on October 27:

"To further strengthen security related to the PHP programming language used in the PlayStation 4 and Steam versions of Street Fighter V, content requiring online functionality is currently unavailable. Offline content remains available and can still be enjoyed. Emergency maintenance is currently underway to address this issue. Until the fix has been completed, sales on the PlayStation Store and Steam will be suspended in stages."

This followed an X post the week before and an emergency-maintenance notice on the game's Steam page on October 23. The servers went down first, and the delisting came four days later.

Can I still play Street Fighter V?

Offline, yes. If you own it, it stays in your library and the local modes still work: Arcade, Story, Training, Survival and versus on the same machine. Characters, costumes and stages you've already bought stay on your account.

Anything that talks to Capcom's servers is off for now. That includes Ranked, Casual, Battle Lounges, online leaderboards and the in-game shop. If you haven't bought it yet, you'll have to wait until Capcom puts it back on sale.

Is Street Fighter V dead?

Not officially. A real end of service comes with a date, a notice period and usually a farewell. This has none of those. It's emergency maintenance with no deadline. The delisting is a sign Capcom expects the fix to take a while, but it's still described as a pause.

Still, it's worth watching. SFV is a 2016 game whose successor, Street Fighter 6, is where Capcom's fighting-game effort goes now. Rebuilding an old online backend to patch a serious vulnerability costs money, and publishers usually decide how much an old game is worth once the bill for that work shows up. Capcom hasn't suggested it won't pay. It also hasn't given a date.

The PHP problem, again

This is the same set of PHP vulnerabilities that surfaced around October 21. Last week it killed World Quest and Please Save My Pandemonium! outright, two decade-old Japanese games whose servers were too old to patch safely. Bigger live-service games went into emergency maintenance and were back within a day or so.

Street Fighter V is somewhere between those two outcomes. It's big enough to fix and old enough that the fix isn't quick. It probably won't be the last game running on an old backend to show up here.

We'll update this when Capcom gives a return date for the servers or the store pages, or if the word "temporary" quietly disappears from the notice.
