Throne and Liberty moves to NC on Nov. 10: is it shutting down?

Throne and Liberty stays online. Amazon hands it to NC on Nov. 10, 2026. Auction House and cash shop pause Oct. 26; opt-out deadline is Oct. 30.

No. It is changing landlords. Amazon Game Studios is handing Western live operations of Throne and Liberty back to the developer, NC, through its subsidiary FirstSpark Games. The official post published Oct. 8 sets the handover maintenance for Nov. 10, 2026.

The headline on Steam reads "Service Transition: Key Dates and What to Expect," which is how a shutdown notice usually reads too. This one ends with the game still running.

The dates

  • Oct. 26, 2026: The Auction House closes. Celebration Packs, Character Boost, and Lucent packs come off the Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and in-game stores.
  • Oct. 30, 2026: Deadline to opt out of the data transfer.
  • Nov. 10, 2026: Service transition maintenance begins. The game is unavailable while player data moves to NC. Start time and duration haven't been announced.
  • After that: You log in, accept NC's Terms and Policies, and keep playing.

NC's own notice for its Korean service, mirrored by Gameslantern, lists Nov. 11 and Oct. 27 in Korea time. Korea runs 16 hours ahead of Phoenix, so those dates likely describe the same windows.

Reader questions

Will I lose my characters? No, unless you ask to. Amazon says characters, items, currency, and progression "will all transfer intact." That includes Lucent, Sollant, Loyalty Points, and Ornate Coins.

What happens to my Auction House listings? Anything still listed when the Oct. 26 maintenance starts goes to the NPC Storage Manager, even if that pushes you over your storage cap. Lucent from completed sales gets credited to your balance. The Auction House reopens after NC takes over, on a date NC will announce.

Can I still buy Lucent? Until Oct. 26. Sales resume after the transition. Lucent you already have stays usable before and after.

Do I need a new account? Steam and PlayStation players keep their existing accounts. Xbox players will need to install a new "Throne and Liberty" app published by NC. The current one has already been renamed "Throne and Liberty AGS."

What does opting out do? It stops your data from going to NC. Your characters, progression, and inventory stay behind, and you start over if you play under NC. The request form is here.

Anything else to claim? Clear your Storage Chest of store purchases, Twitch Drops, and Game Pass or PS Plus perks before Nov. 10. Anything left gets mailed to you automatically. Open support tickets do not transfer, and your Blocked list will be reset. If two characters end up with the same name, the one with higher Combat Power keeps it and the other gets a rename ticket.

What actually changes

The publisher, the support desk, the live-ops team, and the terms you click through all change. Regions and realms stay, though NC is renaming "Japan, Oceania" to "Asia, Oceania." The bigger change is that Western players get folded into one service with players on NC's PURPLE launcher. Steam progression will also work on PURPLE. PlayStation and Xbox keep separate progression.

How we got here

Amazon announced the handoff on Aug. 12 and described it as "handing the game back to the developers." NC's press release that day quoted FirstSpark Games CEO Moonyoung Choi: "Taking a more direct role in global publishing makes so much sense for us." The game launched in the West on Oct. 1, 2024, and is free to play on Steam.

When we checked the Steam API at 5:27 AM MST today, it reported 2,698 concurrent players. That is one early-morning snapshot, and it leaves out console players.

Bottom line

Is Throne and Liberty dead? No. It goes offline for a maintenance window starting Nov. 10, 2026, then returns with NC as publisher. Sell what you want to sell on the Auction House before Oct. 26, and leave the opt-out form alone unless you actually want to start over.
