Partly, and soon. Resolution Games says online multiplayer in Ultimechs ends on Oct. 20, 2026. The same day, the game leaves the Steam Store and the Meta Horizon Store. If you already have it, you can keep playing single-player against bots. You can't play against people, which was the main thing Ultimechs was for.
The studio posted the news on Oct. 8 under the title "An Update on Ultimechs". That gives players 12 days' notice.
The dates
- Oct. 8, 2026: Announcement on Steam and the Meta Horizon Store. In-app purchases are switched off.
- Oct. 20, 2026: Online multiplayer ends. Ultimechs is delisted from Steam and the Meta Horizon Store. The Ultimechs Spectator app is also delisted and stops working.
- After that: Single-player only, for people who already have the game.
Resolution Games did not give a reason. The post ends with "Keep those GauntJets flying!" GauntJets are the rocket fists you use to punch the ball. After Oct. 20 you'll mostly be punching it past bots.

Can I still play Ultimechs? Yes. Until Oct. 20 it works the way it always has. After that, the single-player mode keeps working for existing owners.
Can I still download it? Until Oct. 20, yes. It's free to play, so add it to your Steam or Meta account now if you think you'll ever want it. After the delisting, only accounts that already have it can install it.
What happens to my UltiCoins? You keep them. Resolution Games says purchased UltiCoins can still be spent "even after multiplayer services have ended." You can't buy more, because purchases are already disabled. The post doesn't mention refunds.
What is Ultimechs Spectator, and does it survive? It's the separate app for watching matches. It doesn't survive. Resolution Games says it is being delisted and "will no longer be able to spectate any matches." Without matches to watch, it has nothing left to do.
Is there a replacement or a community server option? None has been announced. The post covers single-player and nothing else.
Is Ultimechs dead? As a multiplayer game, it will be on Oct. 20. As a single-player game, it stays installed and playable for current owners.
How we got here
Ultimechs launched on Steam on Sept. 15, 2022. It's a free-to-play, VR-only arena sports game from Resolution Games, the Stockholm studio behind Demeo. Two teams of mechs punch a ball into a goal, and people often compare it to Rocket League. It supports cross-platform play between Steam and Quest.
Steam was never where most of the players were. The Steam version has 153 user reviews, rated Very Positive. Steam Charts puts its average concurrent players over the last 30 days at 0.05, with a peak of one. In October 2022, its first full month, it averaged 3.7. Meta doesn't publish player counts for Quest, so we can't tell you how many people will be logging off on Oct. 20, other than "some."
